Our Solution

The Forever Water project will develop an novel electrochemical process to eliminate PFAS by breaking down their highly stable C-F bonds. The contaminated water passes through our graphene-enabled 3D nanostructured electrodes. Using only current and without the addition of chemicals our electrodes can degrade the fluorinated compounds into their harmless building blocks, F- and CO2.

Objectives

To unlock the full potential of our technology and deliver tangible solutions to today’s environmental challenges, we will further develop it within the framework of this project. This development is guided by four strategic pillars designed to ensure scalability, efficiency, and impact.

Pillar 1 is focused on enhancing the scalability of the technology by further material development and producing non-compressible graphene sponge electrode architectures.

Pillar 2 is focused on the development, optimization and validation of the pilot-scale prototype and its system integration.

Pillar 3 is focused on the on-site technology demonstration for its intended applications in three different test sites.

Pillar 4 is focused on the translation of research outputs into innovation, protection of intellectual property (IP) and creation of a spin-off company.
