Current state of PFAS contamination

PFAS are toxic and extremely persistent. Used in countless products since the 1950s, they’ve contaminated our water, air, soil, and bodies. Linked to cancer, infertility, thyroid disease, and immune disorders, PFAS pollution costs Europe up to €84 billion in health impacts annually. Current water treatment methods only remove PFAS but don’t destroy them, creating new waste streams. Destructive technologies are inefficient, energy-intensive, and not scalable. To truly tackle PFAS, we need sustainable solutions that eliminate them for good.
